- 8 bi-weekly Private Lessons - 20 minutes
- 8 bi-weekly Group Sessions - 75 minutes
- Parents and students will attend group together * using Big Kids Family Music®, a program that enhances tonal/rhythm development and lays the foundation for learning and music expression. Music theory and ear training will be included. * See parent schedule for dates/times.
Why not just private lessons?
Research indicates that at this young age, even academically advanced or very mature children still learn best by using all of their learning modalities, i.e., visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, etc. in a wide range of learning activities. Their brains are actively organizing their environment and establishing relationships between tangible real-life information and abstract concepts & symbols.
The transitional piano program is designed to support piano learning by providing the one-on-one instruction needed to progress at one's own pace and develop proper technique, without overloading young children's attention spans with long lessons. Home practice assignments will be task-oriented with a goal of consistency rather than defined length of time.
Group sessions will help prepare children with the skills needed to play and read music at their lessons, as well as allow them ways to internalize and practice putting music into their bodies. Students will also have a group of peers for encouragement, support & FUN; as well as musical experiences with their parents and activities for home.
My child wants to play a different instrument.....
At this developmental stage, piano/keyboard is usually t he most successful instrument for children to learn as it is visual and easy to see new concepts. it provides the basis of the universal music language and is a required element in college music programs. Students need to learn the 'WHY', not just the 'HOW'. After getting a good musical foundation, it is easier for students to transfer to other instruments which require more advanced coordination skills.

$440 for 16 Week Semester, payable in FULL, or in 4 automated billings of $110
Students must register and pay for FULL SEMESTER COURSE
Tuition includes group and piano lesson materials.
